What a morning! After receiving a great quote from Geoff Taylor of CH Robinson Worldwide Shipping Company, we were finally set to send the sneakers to Florida and then on their way to Haiti. Deacon Ken Thorne wanted to make sure that all was set for us to properly send the boxes even though we contracted shipment with another company than the one he drives for. Before he started his work day he graciously met us at 7:30 am to shrink wrap the boxes and give us reminders about tracking numbers etc. He led us in a prayer for safe delivery of the shoes and left. Once the Bill of lading was faxed that morning, we realized that (as CHRobinson is a third party company that contracts with other shipping companies) they had contracted with R &L Carriers to deliver our boxes and our own Ken Thorne would be our driver! Talk about God working things out !! Though we did not know how the sneakers would start on their journey, God knew all along. Delay was not denial. God worked out all the details! Praise Him! Hallelujah.
Special thanks to my husband Gene for packing all the boxes into our van this morning and delivering them to our church parking lot. ( Thanks Christ Baptist! ) Thanks also to Deacon James and Deaconess Barbara Winfield for their generous donation towards the cost of shipping. Deaconess Barbara was on hand to witness the wrapping, join us in prayer and help take pictures. We praise God for all the many strings in Strings of Love, Haiti.
In answer to many questions, yes, we are still collecting sneakers as the need is still great. The collection for the next 500 starts now. God bless!
